When we meditate in nature, we bring a receptive p When we meditate in nature, we bring a receptive presence to the natural world. It comes alive! We no longer look at nature as an inert or pretty object, but as a living and breathing world of mystery, a realm of wisdom that is always whispering its teachings to us. For example, by watching the resilience of pines, palm trees, or bamboo swaying in a storm or the breeze - we can learn to not be so rigid in life. By listening to the birds sing their morning songs - we can learn humility and remember to always be grateful for a new day. Nature also teaches us to slow down and live simply in the present. And there is so much more nature can teach us about how to live well if we will just take the time to watch and listen! 🙏☮️❤️ . "The shadow is very much a part of human nature, a "The shadow is very much a part of human nature, and it is only at night that no shadows exist.” - Carl Jung, Psychology & Religion . The psychologist Carl Jung stressed that an individual’s proper goal is wholeness - realization of the Self. And this path lies in integrating those elements of our psyche that for too long have been repressed and denied – what Jung called our "shadow side". . What is it that most people deny & repress? All that is deemed bad or immoral by society, all that is frowned upon by our family or peers, all the traits that when first expressed were ridiculed or met with punishment. As a result of repressing elements of our personality into our shadow we were made tame, obedient – perhaps likeable – but at the cost of psychological wholeness. . Jung warned: "By not being aware of having a shadow, you declare a part of your personality to be non-existent. Then it enters the kingdom of the non-existent, which swells up and takes on enormous proportions…If you get rid of qualities you don’t like by simply denying them, you become more and more unaware of what you are, you declare yourself more and more non-existent, and your devils will grow fatter and fatter." . If we integrate our shadow we'll start to notice our personality transform in dramatic ways. We will become more grounded, more secure in our skin, more courageous & self-reliant.
